Jacky

Arno Nollen’s photographs, photo books and films form an eclectic collection of images of girls and young women. He presents them in all possible ways and from all sides: Dressed, half naked, completely naked. Standing, sitting, kneeling or lying down. With dark, blond or red hair. With Arno Nollen’s work, everything revolves around girls. As he himself says: “I always focus on girls. I find young girls particularly interesting because of their body language and their facial expressions. They know everything, but lack experience. And that is so interesting to record.” As a viewer, you ask yourself: what is going on between those girls and the photographer? What is their relationship? In the case of Jacky, you see a young woman whose gaze is difficult to interpret. Is she bored, is she being mischievous, or does she dislike the situation? It makes the work exciting, perhaps even problematic. Even so, you continue to look at it.
