In his ninth video, artist Guido van der Werve finds himself, just like in his previous video Number Eight, on an immense icy terrain, only this time he is in the North Pole. Wrapped up in black ski clothing, the artist spends 24 hours in the freezing cold, standing in just one spot: the Earth’s axis. As the sun turns, Guido Van der Werve turns with it, so that he is literally continuing to turn his back on the sun. And by doing so, he is turning against the world, something that the artist has taken from the Romanticism art movement. The sterile blue-white landscape contrasts strongly with his dark silhouette. And once again, he performs the music himself, this time having also composed it himself. The artist manages to keep himself averted from the sun for the entire video, thus the entire day, and to keep standing on this barren plain.
