This composition, composing large and small fields of colour, seems quite abstract. Even so, one quickly discovers a picture: the port of Majorca. One can see the wharf with little boats and fisherman, with above a slope, with houses built against it, and finally a strip of blue sky. The colours become lighter towards the top, as if the sun is shining against the slope. The depiction and landscape are reduced to a mass of colour fields. Gestel drew inspiration in this from Cézanne, the forerunner of the Cubists. The different fields seem to have been painted with a certain rhythm, which reveals the bustle of the fishing port in sunny Majorca.
