Regents of St Elisabeth’s Hospital

Five regents of the Elisabeth’s Hospital around the table in the governor’s room. The money, ink stand and book on the table refer to their administrative tasks. The regents are dignified and serious, and their clothing is sober black, which was suitable for their function in a charitable institution. This is the first Haarlem regent piece. The Elisabeth Hospital also had four female governors. Their portrait was also made in 1641 by Johannes Verspronck.
