In her photographic work, Annaleen Louwes focuses on people. She is fascinated by the way social conditions are expressed in the body language of an individual, and she highlights this by photographing unknown people over a long period of time – a method that generates great intimacy. It is thus that the 2006 series Rob K. evolved, in which Louwes asked a resident from her neighbourhood to pose for her for a year. In this photo series Louwes focuses on the individual without showing the specific social context, and therefore tries to place her model in a larger whole.
