Ominous dark clouds, torrential rain, uprooted trees and rising water herald the Flood. People flee to higher ground or drift on improvised rafts. A beam of light splits the heavens and illuminates Noah’s Ark, which will survive this disaster. This is a painting full of movement and dramatic lighting, of figures painted swiftly and with a sureness of touch.
