By Cornelis Dusart

Village Feast
Village Feast Village Feast

A violinist on a bench, surrounded by dancing people. There is a fair in the village. The revellers are not painted without a reason; the painting contains a message. Dusart is warning his public not to join in these excesses. Cornelis Dusart was a student of Isaack van Ostade. He even finished a number of Van Ostade’s unfinished paintings. Master and apprentice were very close in style.
