Jacob Isaacksz van Ruisdael
Jacob Isaacksz van Ruisdael Jacob Isaacksz van Ruisdael

Jacob Isaacksz van Ruisdael (Haarlem, 1628/1629 – Amsterdam, 1682) was a Dutch Golden Age painter, draughtsman and etcher from North-Holland. He worked alternately in Haarlem and Amsterdam, but also travelled to other regions in the Netherlands as well as Germany, so as to gain inspiration for his work.

It is assumed that he studied with his father Isaack van Ruisdael, as well as his uncle, Salomon van Ruysdael, who was also an artist. Among other themes, Jacob van Ruisdael painted diverse landscapes, and city and beach scenes. In addition to being an artist, he was also a doctor by profession.
