Johannes Cornelisz Verspronck
Johannes Cornelisz Verspronck Johannes Cornelisz Verspronck

Johannes Cornelisz Verspronck (Haarlem, 1600/1603 – Haarlem, 1662) was a Dutch Golden Age painter and draughtsman from North-Holland. He was probably apprenticed to his father, Cornelis Engelsz Versprongh, who painted many portraits. It is also possible that he was taught by Frans Hals, as his influence seems to be reflected in Johannes Verspronck’s paintings.

In 1632, Johannes Verspronck became a member of the Haarlem Guild of Saint Luke. As a painter he is best known for producing approximately one hundred portraits, which often have a detailed, calm and modest appearance. Only one signed still life of his is known to exist.
