Leo Gestel (Woerden, 1881 – Hilversum, 1941) was a Dutch painter, draughtsman and watercolourist. At the beginning of the 20th century he simultaneously studied at the Rijksnormaalschool voor Teekenonderwijs (‘National School for Art Education’) and the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten (‘National Academy of Visual Arts’) in Amsterdam.

Leo Gestel had a studio in Amsterdam and frequently travelled abroad in search of inspiration. He visited destinations such as Italy, Spain, Belgium and Germany. He was apprenticed to, among others, his father Willem Gestel and August Allebé. His style of painting falls under the Bergen School, and he mainly painted a variety of still lifes, portraits and landscapes.
