Meiro Koizumi
Meiro Koizumi Meiro Koizumi

Meiro Koizumi (Kuma, 1976) is a Japanese performance and video artist. His work consists mainly of video installations and (live) performances where he often deals with confrontational issues that can lead to different emotions. He studied Liberal Arts in Tokyo and Fine Art Media in London, and came to Amsterdam in 2005 to study at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten (‘National Academy of Visual Arts’). Besides being an artist, he is also active as founder / member of Artist’s Guild, an interest group for visual artists in Japan.

Meiro Koizumi’s work has been shown at the Mori Art Museum in Tokyo, The Museum of Modern Art in New York, Frans Hals Museum – Hal, and the Tate Modern in London. In 2012, the artist won the People’s Choice Award of the Future Generation Art Prize.
