Nummer Acht – Everything is going to be alright
Presentation of ‘Nummer acht’, the film for which Van der Werve has recently been awarded the prestiguous Volkskrant Art Award 2007. ‘Nummer acht’ shows a lone figure walking across a frozen sea, being closely followed by an icebreaker. The eighth installment in Van der Werve’s ‘number films’ continues to develop the artist’s interest in performance and cinematographic gestures, and combines the ‘romantic conceptualism’ of artists like Bas Jan Ader with the visual lucidity of Mondrian.
