Students bring long lost lovers by Frans Hals back together
Around 1650, Stephanus Geraerdts and Isabella Coymans had Frans Hals portray themselves on two touching paintings. Isabella offers her husband a rose and he holds out his hand to take the rose
Unfortunately, the couple have been separated for a long time, and Stephanus’ warm smile is no longer answered: Isabella has been in a private collection since 1886. After a visit to the museum, three students decided to do something about it.
During a school visit, students heard about this tragedy, and decided to take matters into their own hands.
Lisha painted a new portrait of Isabella in color and Mette and Nathalie together even made a new double portrait in black and white. Now Stephanus can finally tackle the rose of his beloved and his warm smile is answered again. An end result to be proud of!
