A Golden Age?
On the 6th and 7th of June, the Frans Hals Museum will proudly be hosting the symposium ‘The Contribution of Artistic Genres to the Construction of the Dutch Golden Age’. This symposium is part of a research project that intends to rethink the notion of the ‘Golden Age’, by analyzing the manner in which it was defined, thought and described in the 17th century itself, by the Dutch as well as by foreigners who observed the country.
