Art Collection & Gathering of Knowledge read more
The Frans Hals Museum is fortunate enough to be tasked with presenting the largest collection of paintings by the Haarlem master to an audience of young and old, and to do so in the most attractive and appealing way possible. Furthermore, we are also honoured to be able to collate all the available knowledge about Hals’ work and life, here in his hometown, and to keep that knowledge relevant and up-to-date. And so, in order to be able to do this, the Frans Hals Knowledge Centre was established in 2016.
Our own restoration studio is essential for the Knowledge Centre, as it enables the museum to gather in-depth knowledge about Frans Hals’ painting technique and use of materials. It also helps us gain invaluable insights into the conservation and restoration of his paintings. Thanks to the Knowledge Centre, the museum will be able to present this crucial information in the most optimum way.
The Knowledge Centre is currently still under construction. The museum aims for it to be fully operational by 2020. We will keep you informed!
