Frans Hals en de Modernen: Hals ontmoet Manet, Singer Sargent, Van Gogh
Let op: de voertaal van dit symposium en deze pagina is Engels.
On 12 October 2018 the Frans Hals Museum launched the major exhibition Frans Hals and the Moderns which will be on view until 24 February 2019. This is the first time that Frans Hals’ paintings have been displayed alongside reactions to his work by modern painters at the end of the 19th century. Through Frans Hals’ paintings and some fifty amazing loans, the exhibition shows the enormous impact that Hals had on Modern painters, who considered him as one of their own, a proto-impressionist.
The exhibition resulted in new insights, and simultaneously raises new questions, which will be addressed during the symposium on 11 February. The morning session is dedicated to four stimulating presentations. In the afternoon session, case studies and specific questions will be discussed within the exhibition in front of the paintings.
