Salomon Jacobsz van Ruysdael
Salomon Jacobsz van Ruysdael Salomon Jacobsz van Ruysdael

Salomon Jacobsz van Ruysdael (Naarden, 1600/1603 – Haarlem, 1670) was a Dutch Golden Age painter and draughtsman from North-Holland. He lived and worked in Haarlem from 1623 until his death, and became a member of the Guild of Saint Luke in 1623, too.

Salomon van Ruysdael’s paintings have various themes, such as winter landscapes, and agriculture and fish still lifes. His river and village scenes, however, prevailed. It is not known who his teacher was in that field, but for his earlier works it is believed he most likely studied the work of Esaias van de Velde.
