In the central panel of this triptych stands Jesus, between the governor of Judaea Pilate (right) and two executioners. Pilate displays the maltreated Jesus to the people of Jerusalem with the words ‘Here is the man’ (Latin: ecce homo). The people showed no pity and demanded his crucifixion; Pilate let them have their way and washed his hands to clear himself of responsibility; Jesus was taken away and crucified on Golgotha. The identity of the patrons, portrayed on the side-panels, is not known. Their patron saints are Christopher (left) and Martha (right). On the back are the prophets Ezekiel (left) and Daniel (right).
